Xiaomi’s latest fitness band, the Mi Smart Band 5 is officially coming to Malaysia soon. The Chinese smartphone and IoT brand has just revealed on Facebook that the Mi Band 5 will be arriving in Malaysia on the 24th of July 2020.
Sadly, there is still no news of Mi Band 5 launch in Singapore. Currently, Mi Band 4 still remains the latest version of Mi Band in Singapore. However, with our insider news, we predict Mi Band 5 to be officially launched in Singapore soon from Sep 20 to Oct 20. So let's get our anticipation high and find out more about Mi Band 5. 
The Mi Smart Band 5 was recently announced for the global market and it retails for EUR 39.99 in Europe (about RM196). You can expect it to be priced lower for Singapore considering the Mi Band 5 in China is priced from CNY 189 (about RM115) for the base model without NFC.
The new Mi Band 5 features a larger 1.1″ AMOLED display and an improved charging mechanism that uses a magnetic cable connector. It is rated to last up to 14 days on a single charge and it comes with a 24-hour heart rate and sleep monitoring. The Mi Band 5 also gets a built-in SpO2 or blood oxygen tracker. This was absent from the Mi Band 4. Similar to its predecessor, it also gets 5 ATM rated water resistance which allows you to take it for a swim.
Other new features include menstruation cycle tracking, breath training, remote control for your smartphone camera, and a new PAI Vitality Index. PAI stands for Personal Activity Intelligence and is a feature borrowed from Huami’s Amazfit wearables. It essentially gamifies health tracking by giving you a score between 1-100 based on your daily activity and heart rate. 
Do note that the global version doesn’t come with NFC and voice assistant support. SpO2 appears to be missing on the global product page as well.
