DxOMark has just published its camera review of the Xiaomi Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro. Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro score 10 points lower than the Mi 10 Pro.
Although the new devices are newer than the Mi 10 Pro, the Mi 10T series score significantly lower by at least 10 points. Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro
The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro which comes with a triple-camera setup was given an overall score of 118 points. To break it down, the device scored 121 for the photo category, 61 for zoom and 110 for video.
Compared with the Mi 10 Pro, the T version is priced significantly lower. Although it runs on the same flagship-class Snapdragon 865 processor, Xiaomi has made some cost cutting measures such as using an LCD display instead of AMOLED and going for a downgraded camera setup without a telephoto camera. It features a 108MP f/1.7 main camera, a 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5MP macro shooter. According to DxOMark, despite the disadvantage in the zoom department, the main shooter of the Mi 10T is still very competent in both outdoors and indoors which will satisfy most users. They also added that the phone was also great in delivering nice videos with effective stabilisation. However, they found limited dynamic range in low-light photos and there’s strong ghosting in some HDR shots. They also noted low detail for ultra-wide camera shots and there are some autofocus instabilities for indoor and low-light videos. You can read the full review here.
Based on the current DxoMark mobile ranking, the Mi 10T Pro is 10 points behind the Mi 10 Pro. When the Mi 10 Pro was introduced in February 2020, it was the highest rated phone on DxOMark at the time with a score of 124 (based on previous testing algorithm).
To recap, the Mi 10 Pro has a more versatile quad-camera setup. Apart from the 108MP main camera, the device uses a higher resolution 20MP ultra-wide-angle camera and two telephoto shooters. The 12MP portrait camera offers 2x optical zoom while the 8MP telephoto camera is capable of capturing 10x hybrid zoom.
Xiaomi Mi 10T
Meanwhile, the Mi 10T is given an overall score of just 98 on DxOMark. It did 97 points for photo, 49 for zoom and 95 for video.
Both the Mi 10T and the Mi 10T Pro share the same 13MP ultra-wide-angle and 5MP macro camera. However, the biggest difference between the two is the main sensor where the non-Pro model gets a 64MP shooter. According to DxOMark, the change in sensor from 108MP to 64MP has caused a big impact on image quality. They found inconsistent exposure and colour, as well as low detail and high noise which resulted low scores in their tests. At 98 points, the Mi 10T is one point behind the Google Pixel 2 and the Xiaomi Mi 8, however, it scored a point higher than the iPhone X. You can read DxOMark’s full Xiaomi Mi 10T review here.
