Epic Games Store’s next three free games revealed for this week

The Epic Games Store‘s latest 3 free game ​are now available to download. Last week release of Tacoma (normally ~SGD$27) and Next Up Hero (normally ~SGD$27) are free to download until Thursday July 30 at 11pm.

​They’ll be replaced by 20XX, Barony, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, which will be free to download from July 30 until August 6.

20XX is an indie roguelike action platform video game developed by American indie studio Batterystaple Games. Inspired by Mega Man X, players must shoot or slash enemies and complete difficult platforming challenges to finish a stage. The twist is that these stages are generated randomly based on level segments, or "chunks", and also allow for both local and online co-op. Rather than giving you several lives, the game has permadeath, but is a "roguelite" in that you can use Soul Chips earned during the level to unlock new types of passive upgrades to buy, and gain upgrades for the next attempt of that particular run.

During levels players can use bolts gained as currency to buy passive upgrades, or to gain back health or energy in vending machines. They can also find upgrades in treasure chests and other places.[4] Upon beating a boss the player can choose to take their power as a reward, granting them a new special ability, or take a reward of bolts or a random passive upgrade instead.

Barony is the premier first-person roguelike with co-op. Cryptic items, brutal traps and devious monsters, like those found in classic roguelikes and CRPGs, await you. Conquer the dungeons alone, or gather a party in co-op with iconic and exotic RPG classes.

The Myths & Outcasts DLC offers you dozens of new ways to play through Barony with four new classes and four new monster races with fresh gameplay.
Each monster race has a signature class that human characters can also play as, and can be unlocked for other monsters to play.

Monsters are hated by humans, but they still seek to slay liches in the dungeon! Monsters can either be played as their signature class, or they can be played as any of the current classes in Barony!

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP is an exploratory action adventure with an emphasis on audiovisual style. Traverse a mythic little realm, use a sword to do battle & evoke sworcery to solve mystical musical mysteries.

The Epic Games Store’s free games promotion, which launched alongside the storefront in December 2018, will run throughout 2020. 

​The digital storefront has also launched its summer sale, which features savings of up to 75% on selected titles until August 6.

The Epic Games Store recently hit 61 million monthly active users on PC thanks to a promotional campaign called The Vault, which saw it give away a series of high-profile free games including Grand Theft Auto V, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Civilization 6 between May 14 and June 18.
