Google Home is the most popular Wi-Fi speaker that doubles up as a smart home control hub and a personal assistant for the entire family. You can use it to play entertainment throughout your home, effortlessly manage everyday tasks, create reminders and ask Google things you want to know.
Google Home is a speaker that can playback songs and allow Google Assistant to talk to you. At the top of google home, there is a capacitive touch display with four LEDs. This display allows users to interact with Home, trigger Assistant, adjust volume etc. It has dual microphones to listen for your voice, and there is a single mute button on the shell to turn the microphones off. Not to worry about noise pollution, Google Home can filter and separate speech from noise and the speaker inside features dual side-facing passive radiators, which deliver full range, clear highs, and rich bass.
Google Home Mini
The Google Home Mini is a Wi-Fi speaker that doubles up as a smart home control hub and a personal assistant for the entire family. You can use it to play entertainment throughout your home, effortlessly manage everyday tasks, create reminders and ask Google things you want to know.
The Google Home Mini is the entry point to Google's smart speaker lineup. At the top of Home Mini, there is a row of 4 LEDs which will light up when you speak to it or adjust the volume.
Google Home Mini offer the same capabilities as the Google Home but in a smaller build. Both have different speaker specifications and technical specifications, but you can use any of them for music and video playback, smart home control, and usual voice command queries. However, Google Home offers much better sound quality than Home Mini. Home Mini has anemic sound and no much bass to speak of, it is considerable softer at full volume than Google Home and lacks comprehensive touch controls on top.
With that said, it is still a great thing to have around the house for this price. Google Home Mini is great for giving access to a world of information through Google Assistant, while playing music and controlling the odd smart home device.
Google Nest Hub
The Google Home Hub then is now referred to as the Google Nest Hub - it offers the same features and functionality as the other Google Home and Home Mini. But it features a 7-inch display to the mix, making it ideal for smart home control and video playback. Its 7-inch touch screen display lets you view today's reminders, stream videos and watch your smart security camera's footage through Google Assistant. For example, the Hub has a pull-down screen that gives you access to and control over your smart home devices. On the Hub, you can watch video tutorials, while a regular Home or Home Mini will read you the instructions.
The built-in speakers and microphones of this Google Home Hub device have far-field voice recognition for convenient hands-free control. Google Home Hub also offers Google Assistant so you can use your voice to control everything too, as you can with the rest of the Home devices, but the display brings everything to life.
However, its speaker isn't as powerful as the Google Home. It is however a decent step up from the Home Mini. There’s still a distinct lack of bass, but mid-range frequencies and treble are clear and only start to distort when you push the Home Hub to its volume limits.
Making Life Easier/Better/Simpler
Life is simply easier with you just giving voice commands to Google Home devices instead of doing things manually. You can ask Google Home to turn on the TV to your favorite Netflix show, check on weather, updates your shopping list, and even add appointments to your calendar. You can start your day in the coolest way. Simply say “Hey Google, tell me about my day” to get a quick reminder on your appointments, weather and route to work.
The best part? It has been updated to understand Singlish and our local accent. Ask how to get to work and you will get real-time information about the bus, MRT and traffic in Singapore. You can listen to local podcasts, news, radio and even check your Singapore Airlines or SilkAir flight status.
