POCO has unveiled two new X-series devices. Both models have a set of impressive specs, we’ll be taking a look at both models.
Announced alongside the vanilla X5 5G, the POCO X5 Pro 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G octa-core processor with a capable Adreno 642L GPU for games and can be had with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Boasting a few flagship-level specs, the X5 Pro 5G has a premium 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED screen with an FHD+ pixel resolution. As expected, it has a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It also offers 10-bit color, DCI-P3 coverage, 900-nits peak brightness, and a feature we’re seeing on a lot of premium phones lately, 1,920Hz PWM for eye protection.
Besides the visuals, it also has impressive audio as it managed to get a stereo speaker setup and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the back, there’s an ultra-sharp 108-megapixel 1/1.52-inch sensor, joined by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro. A punch-hole on the screen holds the 16-megapixel selfie snapper.
Thanks to the powerful chipset, it can shoot 4K videos, and taking pictures is 69% faster compared to its predecessor.
Like most phones, it has a 5,000mAh non-removable battery paired with another flagship-like feature, 67W fast charging.
Connectivity includes WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC for select countries. The device is also the thinnest in the entire POCO X series measuring only 7.9mm.
Next, the one we’re taking a look at here, the vanilla X5 5G. Obviously, the POCO X5 5G is going to be a cheaper alternative to the X5 Pro 5G. Still, it’s one of the most appealing in this price range featuring a high-end 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with an FHD+ pixel resolution, 1,200-nits peak brightness, and of course 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling.
Compared to the X5 Pro 5G, this one uses the old Gorilla Glass 3 instead of Glass 5, only has 8-bit color instead of 10-bit, a single speaker instead of stereo, and has a lower-resolution main camera.
There’s a 48-megapixel primary shooter, versus the Pro’s 108-megapixels. The 13-megapixel selfie camera is also lower compared to the former’s 16-megapixels. Still, it has the same 8-megapixel ultra-wide and 2-megapixel macro.
The X5 5G uses the same Snapdragon 695 processor as the X4 Pro. But now, the base model has double the storage capacity at 128GB. There’s also a top-tier variant carrying 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Like the Pro, it has a 5,000mAh battery, but unlike the Pro’s 67W charging, this one only has 33W, which is still not bad as it can fully charge the device from 0% in just 68 minutes.
