Nothing Ear (2) earbuds with better audio quality

Ahead of the launch of the Nothing Ear (2), the brand that’s known for making semi-transparent products, has dropped more details about its upcoming flagship wireless earbuds.

As shared on a Twitter thread, Nothing is putting significantly more resources on the Ear (2) to deliver a higher-quality product with greater emphasis on audio quality.

According to Nothing, audio quality had to be their greatest focus for their next-generation audio product. For Ear (2), the new wireless earbuds will support LHDC 5.0 (Low Latency High Definition Audio Codec) streaming and as a result, it is Hi-Res Audio certified. To ensure greater Bluetooth stability and compatibility, Nothing has conducted testing with over 120 smartphones and laptops for the Ear (2), versus 70 devices on the original Ear (1).

They have also spent more time testing the Bluetooth functions for the Ear (2) with a stricter threshold. It shared that if there are two abnormalities that arose within a testing period of over 1,000 hours, they will consider the function unstable and will rework it for perfection.

As revealed in a recent leak, the Ear (2) looks identical to the original Ear (1), but Nothing claims to have improved its manufacturing by developing a triple shot injection process so that the earbud materials mould together simultaneously. This method they claim will provide a more premium feel and will improve the water resistance from IP53 to IPX4. To further improve quality control, Nothing said it has a new room on the factory floor with a custom-built air humidifier and a strict dust-free guidelines to ensure the cleanest and clearest result for every unit.

The Nothing Ear (2) is scheduled to launch on 22nd March 2023 at 11:00pm Singapore time. It would be interesting to see how much the new Ear (2) would cost in Singapore considering the original Ear (1) was launched locally for SGD$179.00 before it was increased to SGD$199.00 after the launch of the Ear (Stick).
