Why do most of us upgrade our phones after a year or two? One reason is that the phone starts to lag and slow down once it starts filling up with apps, photos, videos, and files.
When this happens, it becomes frustrating to use the phone, especially in those important moments when you need the phone to perform at its best.
Therefore, you’d want to consider getting a smartphone that packs a processor that can keep up with your lifestyle and anything else you can throw at it from the get-go. Right now, perhaps the best smartphone that fits this requirement is the new Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
In case you missed it, Samsung has just released their latest line-up of flagship phones, consisting of the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra. These feature some incredible hardware, namely the display, camera, and battery. But there’s one hardware that really puts the Galaxy S23 series above the other flagship phones in the market.
Qualcomm and Samsung teamed up to create the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, a custom processor engineered explicitly for the Galaxy S23 series.
When Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 late last year, it was already very impressive, with up to 35% performance gains over its predecessor while also being 40% more power efficient than before. With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy however, Qualcomm has souped up an already impressive processor to output even more performance.
The 8-core Kryo CPU now has an even higher clocked Cortex-X3 prime core, running at a whopping 3.36GHz, up from the previous 3.2GHz. If there was one word to describe navigating Samsung’s One UI 5.1 operating system on the Galaxy S23 series, it would be snappy. Throw any app at the phone and it will blaze through it without breaking a sweat.
Whether you are editing a spreadsheet while swapping between reference documents and replying to messages or editing a video with a timeline filled with clips, texts, effects, and music for social media, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy will get the job done.
But where the processor truly showcases its performance prowess is when running Samsung Dex, a feature that provides a desktop computing experience. When connected to an external display, the Galaxy S23 series will transform the mobile UI to a more PC-like environment.
With the performance capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, you can treat the Galaxy S23 series as a mobile workstation. Run multiple apps simultaneously with room to spread out and resize their window just as you can on a Windows PC. If you wanted to, you could still use your smartphone as Samsung Dex runs independently.
Then there’s also the most advanced Qualcomm AI Engine in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy allowing the Galaxy S23 series to achieve increased AI performance. A good example would be learning your usage pattern to determine when the processor needs to provide blazing fast performance like during working hours and when it can enter a low power state to conserve battery like when you’re sleeping.
But all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. As such, the Adreno 740 GPU is also clocked at a higher 719MHz now for a better gaming experience, offering features such as real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing and improved graphics. In games like Fortnite mobile, you can max out the graphic settings to get stunning visuals at close to 60fps.
Besides running apps and gaming, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy also processes complex computational photography algorithms. The Galaxy S23 Ultra in particular works with Snapdragon Sight to power its new 200MP camera, using Snapdragon’s 18-bit Triple Cognitive Image Signal Processor (ISP) for real-time Semantic Segmentation.
Using AI and machine learning, the processor understands the scene and processes each object, subject, and background individually, enhancing image quality in real time as you’re taking the shot.
As part of the processor feature set, you’re also treated to Qualcomm Sensing Hub which uses dual AI processors for echo cancelling and noise cancellation during voice calls. For biometric security, the Galaxy S23 series uses Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 in-display fingerprint sensor that uses acoustic-based tech for even better security.
Connectivity on the Galaxy S23 series also delivers an uncompromised experience, packing the best connectivity hardware Qualcomm offers with 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and more powered by the Snapdragon X70 5G modem, FastConnect 6900, and FastConnect 7800.
You get all of this on top of what already made the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 a killer processor means the Galaxy S23 series might just be the most powerful smartphone yet. And with Samsung committing to four years of Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches on the Galaxy S23 series, your super powerful smartphone will last you for years to come.
With the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung and Qualcomm have seamlessly optimised hardware and software to deliver a unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else. Find out more about the Samsung Galaxy S23 series today and experience it for yourself.
